    I’m trying to add the repository

    http://software.opensuse.org/download/GNOME:/Community/openSUSE_10.2/

    using Yast Installation Sources, but I always get this error:

    [[
    Unable to create installation source
    from URL ‘http://software.opensuse.org/download/GNOME:/Community/openSUSE_10.2/’
    Details:
    Unknown source type for http://software.opensuse.org/download/GNOME:/Community/openSUSE_10.2/
    Try again?
    ]]

    I’ve tried with both FTP and HTTP protocol, but I get the same error message. My settings in the installation source dialog are as following:
    Server name: software.opensuse.org
    Directory on server: /download/GNOME:/Community/openSUSE_10.2/

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thank you in advance.

    exec this one zen-installer %F (thats the new installer under suse.. that Zen thing :) )
    then go to Configure -> First Tab “Services” -> Add Service :
    Service Type : Auto
    Service URL : http://software.opensuse.org/download/GNOME:/Community/openSUSE_10.2/
    Service Name : name it.. i used Bla :)
    et voila .. click on Add.

    now search for pidgin an install it.

    hope it worked.

    mmm … I’ve tried zen-installer, following your instructions, but it still does not work. Here is the message:

    [[
    Unable to add service: No suitable service types could be found
    ]]

    any idea?
    thanks

    Try with YaST, zen-* has major problems and will be gone in 10.3.

    He’s not the only one with this problem. Using command line Yast I try to add the official French mirror.cict.fr (I put the IP address to be sure) installation directory opensuse/distribution/10.2/iso/cd/openSUSE-10.2-GM-i386-CD1.iso. Cannot be anything wrong with it, can it? Still get the same weird error message like Marco. Never got this problem with 10.0. Could it be a bug that nobody takes serious?

    Hi René and all,

    I just wanted to let you know that I finally came up with a configuration that works. I can add installation sources from YaST. I’ve posted the details in this discussion thread

    I hope this helps.
