    Man, tell us you’re not screwing with us.

    IM audio/video is, I think, the last important feature missing in Gnome for the average Joe.

    Best news of the day, so far.

    The picture is equivalent to thousand words. :-)

    I am really glad. Now I will be able to ditch kopete which I and my parents use to watch my 1 year old niece living in other half part of the earth.

    Shame this isn’t being added to telepathy instead. I’d dearly like to get rid of pidgin - too much of a legacy app.

    quoting prince.. “could it be.. (could it be..) the most beautiful feature in the world?” :-D :-D :-D

    foo: truth is, Telepathy has these features in svn. You can use Empathy bleeding edge to test it.

    However, it rocks. Pidgin or Telepathy, it is nice to welcome voice/video IM finally to mainstream Linux.

    “IM audio/video is, I think, the last important feature missing in Gnome for the average Joe.”

    Pidgin is not just a GNOME application. Many Windows users use it too, and they NEED Voice + Video chat possibilities to chat with other Windows users who use Microsoft Messenger Live.

    Many users are installing Skype because they want to SPEAK not just to WRITE. It’s bigger possibility for GNOME to be nicer desktop enviroment when it has IM/Voice/Video chat possibilities right out of the box. KDE has Kopete what is getting these features too (Video is already), so Pidgin shouldn’t be the last one on these. Pidgin is already on good shape and what it miss, is voice and video chat ;-)

    Seems work on voice is being done quite regulary these days. Their MTN code had a new voice session creation problem but it has been patched. Hope to try the latest MTN Code later.

    :) Ok, that’s nice, we’re patient, but what’s the point to post this blog entry _now_, is it the time coming or such? Because this post would have been posted a year ago too, or any time before :-)

    I use pidgin on Microsoft Windows to aggregate all my IM accounts in one app (facebook, google, msn…)
    If it had voice/video, it would be a great app. I would be willing to pay for it if it had this.
    Keeps you from having 3 IM clients in the tray and 2 pages open all the time. Of course i dont need to log in to all the IM networks at once… but its nice that to know that I can reach a friend when hes online, whatever network hes logged onto… Maybe i am somewhat of an IM junkie…

    using a Windows Vista OS
    Hoping for the best.
